We sat down with Kylee Edwards of Mississippi State ahead of the 2025 NFCA Leadoff Classic to talk about goals for the upcoming D1 softball season, expert advice, and valuable insight.
1. What is the best piece of advice a coach has ever given you?
Answer: The best advice a coach has given me would be that nobody is going to remember two months or a year later what you did in that game but yourself. They only remember the type of teammate and person you are.
2. What did you work on this offseason?
Answer: I really focused on getting stronger, and I worked for most of my time on hitting and preparing for the season.
3. What is one of your personal goals for the upcoming D1 softball season?
Answer: My personal goal for this season is to be an All-American and First Team All-SEC.
4. What is one thing people might not know about your pre-game ritual?
Answer: My pregame ritual would be always calling my mom and dad and having a conversation with them and then getting [an energy drink].
5. What advice would you give a young athlete hoping to play D1 softball one day?
Answer: My advice to an athlete hoping to play D1 softball one day would be to enjoy the little moments. Don’t push away the time you have with your travel ball teammates or high school teammates. Those are the most special times in your life. Always remember that if you work hard and stay on the right path, you can achieve anything.
